You are correct; an auto usually will not work under a CJ-5. 2) Your CJ-5 originally had a Dana 20 transfer case. If someone had a 300 in it, it was swapped in. 3) I run a 350, Dana 20, T-18 combo. It's terrific, but you do have to buy an adapter to mate the T-18 to the 350, and it's pricey.

There may have been a few Rockwell T-221 cases married to SM420s for a couple of years ('67 or '68) otherwise 420s came with divorced cases, I believe. A ton of SM465s came married to NP205s, and this is a pretty desirable combo. Webb11 apr. 2000 · SM 420s and 465s look simular but the 420s all had an output yoke and used divorced cases while the 465s could be had with married or divorced cases.
